San Tan Flat is one of Queen Creek's best restaurants. It's not just the food, which is good, but the atmosphere: pool tables, video games, marshmallow roasting, live music and dancing! (Yes, after a long battle, dancing at San Tan Flat is legal again!)

Dancing was illegal?? Eek.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the CDPB community! It's nice to see another photoblog from AZ — your state seems to be so gorgeous!
Thanks for the welcome! And, yes, dancing really was "illegal" there. The neighbors were upset about the noise and live music, so county supervisors claimed that when there was dancing at San Tan Flat, it was operating as a dance hall, which violated zoning or wasn't allowed, something like that. The county imposed a $5,000 a day fine (I think that was the figure)every day that someone was caught dancing. I don't think San Tan Flat ever had to pay, though, because they sued the county saying that this violated their First Ammendment rights, and they won!
